Thirty Two Years
Today Elaine and I celebrate our 32nd anniversary. We had our 30th anniversary just after I got out of hospital in April 2007. My time scale is now measured as years before or after hospital. So now we have enjoyed another two years together.
The picture is of Elaine and I in 2006 at my 30 year award at work. But it is really Elaine that deserves an award. Happy anniversary Elaine.
UPDATE: We went out for supper to Alfredos for our anniversary. It was very good - but we are very full.

Janny's Birthday
Today is Janny's birthday. She is travelling today to Victoria to visit there for a week, so we already celebrated her birthday here.
The picture here is of Janny reading the newspaper with me when she was 4 months old. This is one of my favourite pictures with her as a baby. I posted it before when I blogged about some Janny stories.
Happy birthday Janny.
UPDATE: It was snowing here as Elaine was taking Janny to the airport early this morning. She said "I like when it snows on my birthday." It has happened several times over the years.
Here is our back yard this morning under a new layer of snow. It will likely be gone by tomorrow.

Through It All
This evening we were watching a program that included Andrae Crouch singing his song "Through It All."
I particularly like the end of the last verse "For If I'd Never Had A Problem, I Wouldn't Know God Could Solve Them, I'd Never Know What Faith In God Could Do"
I've Had Many Tears And Sorrows,
I've Had Questions For Tomorrow,
There's Been Times I Didn't Know Right From Wrong.
But In Every Situation,
God Gave Me Blessed Consolation,
That My Trials Come To Only Make Me Strong.
Chorus:
Through It All, through It All,
I've Learned To Trust In Jesus,
I've Learned To Trust In God.
Through It All, through It All,
I've Learned To Depend Upon His Word.
I've Been To Lots Of Places,
I've Seen A Lot Of Faces,
There's Been Times I Felt So All Alone.
But In My Lonely Hours,
Yes, Those Precious Lonely Hours,
Jesus Lets Me Know That I Was His Own
I Thank God For The Mountains,
And I Thank Him For The Valleys,
I Thank Him For The Storms He Brought Me Through.
For If I'd Never Had A Problem,
I Wouldn't Know God Could Solve Them,
I'd Never Know What Faith In God Could Do

Soccer Action
We were at Mike's soccer games at the indoor facility Saturday afternoon and Sunday evening. Ukraine won the first game 3-0 against Serbia. Then last night they lost 1-0 to France is a very hard played game. The picture above has Mike in the centre in the yellow and blue uniform in the game against France last night. When we are watching the game our eyes focus right through the netting without really noticing it. For taking pictures, I think the netting may throw off the auto focus with the camera. We will have to experiment with the camera at another game. Ukraine plays again next weekend Friday, Saturday and Sunday, followed (hopefully) by the playoffs the following week.
After the game last night we had a very enjoyable time at Mike and Nicole's for Mike's birthday cake, including visiting with Nicole's parents.

Mike's Birthday
Today is Mike's 26th birthday. The family is going out on April 27th for a combined birthday supper for him and for Janny.
Today we are going to Mike's first soccer game for the annual WCP Cup. I was looking for a picture of him playing soccer to post. This one is of him playing for Nigeria in the 2006 WCP Cup. Last year and this year he is on the Ukraine team. The WCP Cup always generates a lot of excitement and gets good crowds. We are looking forward to his games.
Happy Birthday Mike!

Snow almost gone
It has taken a while but our snow is almost gone. I posted a picture on the first day of spring showing our back yard with a lot of snow. We still had about one third covered before we went away for the weekend. With the nice weather we have been having it is now almost gone. Yesterday here was 11C and today 16C. The snow is gone but there are still no signs of life yet but that will come.
When we were travelling up to North Battleford a lot of the fields along the way were still snow covered. At North Battleford it was quite windy over the weekend and there was some dust blowing which does not help my breathing. My oxygen delivery person had been out in western Saskatchewan and said it is very dry out there. I hope we get enough moisture so we do not have too much dust blowing.

The Voice of Montreal Canadien's Hockey
Janny and I watch many of the Montreal Canadien's hockey games on the french sports network RDS. The well known voice of the hockey play-by-play is Pierre Houde. I was interested in this news story from NHL.com profiling him and the history of the start of the RDS network.
